How does Tarro Phone Ordering work?

Tarro answers every call and processes orders as part of your paid service. Tarro does not charge for non-order calls (e.g. general inquiries, customer complaints, or reservations). You keep your existing phone number.

When a customer calls, the call forwards after one ring to a trained Tarro pizza specialist (a real person). They take the order, upsell high-margin items like drinks and appetizers, and typically lift average ticket size by 3–5%. Once the order is confirmed as pickup or delivery, Tarro sends the ticket to the printer setup that works best for your restaurant, whether that is a single printer or multiple kitchen stations.

For pickup, the customer comes in and grabs their order. For delivery, you can use your own drivers or Tarro Delivery. If you use Tarro Delivery, we dispatch a driver to bring the food straight to the customer’s door.

Who answers my restaurant’s calls?

Many restaurants today are short-staffed. Tarro helps by providing trained phone answering specialists who speak clear English and understand how restaurant ordering works in the U.S.

All agents go through a strict screening process and complete weeks of training before they start taking orders for your restaurant. This ensures calls are handled professionally and accurately.

My menu is complicated, and customers often customize orders. How does Tarro handle that?

Tarro blends years of phone-answering experience with phone order specialists that have AI as their co-pilot.

When a customer says something like “the family special with two large pizzas and wings”, the system highlights key keywords and suggests the best match from your menu. This helps phone order specialists confirm details quickly and get the order right the first time.

How do agents know right away if an item is sold out?

Restaurant owners can update item availability directly in the Tarro App.

When an item is marked in or out of stock, agents see the update instantly. This helps reduce mistakes, saves time, and keeps orders accurate – especially during busy hours.

How to update stock availability:

  1. Open the Other tab in the Tarro App.
  2. Select Stock Availability.
  3. Find the item and toggle In Stock / Out of Stock.

When orders are sent to the store, do you have your own printer? How does the order get to my staff?

We provide free thermal printers and install them where you need them. When an order comes in, it automatically prints to the correct station so your staff can make it like any other ticket.

What if a customer cancels an order?

Customers can call to request a cancellation, and our phone order specialist will facilitate the process and notify you immediately.

If the food has already been prepared and you still need to cancel the order in the Tarro App, Tarro does not charge a service fee for that order.

Will you integrate with my POS?

Not today. Tarro runs alongside any POS. We print tickets, and you see daily cash and card totals in the Tarro App, so end-of-day reconciliation is usually done in under 30 minutes.

Tarro Delivery

What is Tarro Delivery?

Tarro Delivery helps restaurants deliver orders within up to a 15-mile radius.

You can use Tarro for all deliveries or as backup when your drivers are busy, someone calls out, or you need to cover longer distances. With experienced drivers and smart routing, many restaurants see a 5–20% increase in order volume after enabling delivery.

I already use DoorDash or Uber Eats. Is Tarro Delivery still useful?

Yes. Tarro Delivery helps both restaurants and customers save money.

  • For customers:
    Many customers prefer calling the restaurant directly because third-party apps fees are high. Compared to major delivery platforms, customers often pay around 50% less in delivery fees and 25–50% less in total cost.
    Example: On a $30 order, a customer may save about $4–$5 by ordering directly through Tarro.
  • For restaurants:
    The restaurant owner doesn't have to pay the typical 20-30% commissions charged by 3rd party apps when customers order delivery direct from the restaurant. You keep more of each order and avoid competing with other restaurants inside third-party apps. Tarro also helps you turn one-time delivery customers into loyal, direct customers.

What problems does Tarro Delivery solve for owners?

Tarro Delivery helps solve three common challenges:

If a customer pays cash for delivery, how do I get the money?

The driver collects cash at delivery. Tarro settles and transfers the funds to you on a fixed date each month.

I already have delivery drivers. Can I still use Tarro Delivery?

Yes. Tarro offers flexible delivery options.

You can switch between Self Delivery and Tarro Delivery directly in the app. If a Tarro driver has not left yet, the change can take effect right away – no phone calls or support tickets needed.

How will customers know that my restaurant now delivers?

After your delivery service launches, Tarro can automatically notify your customers by text message (with your approval). The message includes your restaurant name, delivery range, and phone number – so customers know to call you directly.

Tarro Marketing

(SMS Marketing for Restaurants)

How does Tarro marketing work?

Starting in month two, Tarro runs one free SMS marketing campaign per month for your store (about $3,000 in annual value) to drive repeat orders. For each campaign, we work with you on the message and, when possible, tie it to a promo or special that fits your goals.

How often will customers receive messages?

Most restaurants send at least one SMS campaign per month, timed around key opportunities. These messages help drive repeat orders and keep your restaurant top of mind without overwhelming customers.

Tarro Pay

How does credit card processing work?

Tarro takes card payments over the phone and deposits the funds into your account. We match your in-store card rate, and you can choose to pass the fee to the customer. Payouts, minus Tarro estimated fees, are sent via ACH within two business days of the sale.
Tarro covers all credit card disputes. You receive full payment for those orders, even if the customer disputes the charge with their bank.
If a customer actively disputes a Tarro transaction, they will not be able to place new Tarro orders with the same card or phone number until the dispute is resolved. This affects only a small number of customers and helps prevent fraud.
